A beautiful day in Chenonceau

Our day started with a nice visit to the market in Valencay where we got food and a few trinkets.

This was followed by a very pleasant lunch on the covered patio separating our house from the owner's apartment. Here she is, Diane, sitting between Maggie and Vicki.

Joy and Tristan sharing a nice moment with Mom.

Did we mention the gorgeous garden in the backyard?

Then, off we went for a visit to the castle of Chenonceau. Tristan is getting almost as tall as his dad, not that it is that difficult to do...

The castle is quite lovely.

In fact, our group was starting to feel quite at home there.

Many illustrious people have visited the castle or left their portrait there, including Tristan and Louis XIV. Tristan is the one sitting down...

Chenonceau is in an idyllic setting with beautiful views from the gardens.

One particular feature is the gallery that Catherine of Medici had built to cover the original bridge over the Cher River.

The interior is beautifully decorated with a multitude of floral arrangements, to Michael's delight.

And while the kids behaved quite well overall, they also needed to jump around a bit...

Our visit ended by a wonderful walk in the illuminated gardens at night to the sound of classical music.
