Eiffel Tower

Being in Paris, one cannot escape seeing the Eiffel Tower from various angles.

From the dock alongside our houseboat.

At a peace memorial.

Mario and the kids decided to climb the tower to the second level, only 674 steps or about 30 stories high. Tristan and Joy obviously got there first, but Mario was taking pictures...

The structure itself is a very impressive engineering accomplishment. It is fascinating to look at the delicate, almost lace-like steel beams and struts.

And the views are spectacular. It is particularly satisfying later in a trip once the layout of the city is familiar and specific sites and buildings can be recognized.

Looking east towards Montparnasse

Looking west at Place du Trocadero

Looking south with our houseboat in the background

Sacré-Coeur and Montmartre

Les Invalides
